ปี 2008 เกาหลีใต้ในช่วงวงการหนังของประเทศไร้วี่แววหนังทำเงิน The Chaser หนังอาชญากรรมเขย่าขวัญของผู้กำกับหน้าใหม่ นา ฮองจิน ก็แจ้งเกิดขึ้นมากวาดรายได้ถล่มทลายกว่า 5 ล้านคน และฮอลลีวู้ดก็ซื้อไปรีเมค เขากลับมาพร้อมผลงานล่าสุด The Murderer หรือในชื่อเดิม The Yellow Sea ซึ่งตอนนี้มีตัวอย่างให้ชมกันแล้ว

หนังเป็นการกลับมาร่วมงานอีกครั้งของสองนักแสดงนำใน The Chaser คือ ฮา จองวู(Time) และ คิม ยูนซอค(JEON WOO CHI : The Taoist Wizard) เล่าเรื่องของชายหนุ่ม(ฮา จองวู)ที่ใช้ชีวิตในหยานเปียน (ชุมชนคนเกาหลี ซึ่งเป็นเขตปกครองพิเศษในมณฑลเสฉวน ประเทศจีน) เขากำลังติดหนี้ และถูกปรักปรำ จนต้องเดินทางกลับมายังเกาหลีใต้เพื่อตามฆ่าชายคนหนึ่ง แต่กลับพบว่าเป้าหมายที่เขาแทบไม่ทราบข้อมูลกำลังคุกคามเขาแทนที่

หนังเป็นงานร่วมทุนสร้างระหว่าง ทเวนตี้ เซนจูรี่ ฟ็อกซ์ และ Showbox ของเกาหลี ซึ่งนับเป็นหนังเกาหลีเรื่องแรกที่ได้รับทุนจากสตูดิโอฮอลลีวู้ด โดยมีสัญญาสำหรับการนำสิทธิ์ในการจัดจำหน่าย นำไปรีเมค หรือทำภาคต่อ ซึ่งอาจรวมถึงโอกาสให้ผู้กำกับไปทำการควบคุมงานจนถึงกำกับหนังฉบับใหม่เอง
